1964 American League All-Star Team Signed Baseball (PSA 8)
The only ball more valuable than this one just might be the one slammed by Johnny Callison into the Shea Stadium seats in the bottom of the 9th to win the ‘64 All-Star Game for the NL. Then again, given the names on this glowing OAL (Cronin) orb, it’s a close call. Ball contains signatures from 28 ALers, including some all-time cream of the crop -- HOFers Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford, Al Kaline, Harmon Killebrew, Brooks Robinson and Louis Aparicio, as well as Elston Howard, Joe Pepitone, Gil Hodges, Rocky Colavito, Tony Oliva, Dick Radatz, Frank Malzone, Jim Fregosi and Dean Chance. Manager Al Lopez’ auto on the sweet spot is a clubhouse example. Signatures average 7-8/10, some better. Ball itself is rated PSA 8 (NM-MT) -- a gorgeous and rare All-Star ball recalling only one of two walkoff All-Star homer (the other of course being Ted Williams in ‘41). A real beaut, too, with hardly a scratch on it.
