1964 Curt Flood Signed Cardinals Uniform Player's Contract - Championship Season

1964 Curt Flood Signed Cardinals Uniform Player's Contract - Championship Season

A seven-time Gold Glove winner, six-time .300 hitter, three-time All-Star, and two-time World Series champion, Flood was a vital ingredient on the great Redbird clubs of the 1960's and equally adept with his glove and bat. However, he is best remembered a seminal figure in sports labor history who dared to challenge Major League Baseball's reserve clause. Four-page "Uniform Player's Contract, National League of Professional Baseball Clubs, between St. Louis National Baseball Club, Inc...and Curtis C. Flood" for $23,000 is signed by Flood, Cardinals GM Vaughan Devine (the architect of two Cardinals championship teams and the 1969 Miracle Mets) and N.L. President Warren Giles, with N.L. date stamp on the back page. The contract and signatures are NRMT
