1964 Dick Groat Game Worn Jersey
The last of five All-Star seasons for this sure-handed National League shortstop. Terrific home white flannel is 100% original with the single exception of the removed name, which is clearly visible in the outline of stitching left behind. It is quite common to find names removed from jerseys of this era, as many were sent down to the minor leagues after a season of big league use. Embroidered birds and bat logo on chest will always be our personal favorite, and felt number “24” is stitched below and again on the back. “Rawlings [size] 42” tag in tail is just above a red chain-stitched “Groat 64.” Washing instruction tag rounds out the package. Use is fantastic but has resulted in no tearing or staining. A display winner.
