1964 Jim Bunning Perfect Game Baseball
Father's Day 1964 was a memorable one for Phillies pitcher Jim Bunning, a father of five, who threw a perfect game against the Mets at Shea Stadium as part of a Sunday doubleheader. This signed baseball from that very contest is an official National League (Giles) ball and shows use. On top of one panel is written (faded to 2 to 3/10) "21 June 64" Mets 0, Phils 6, Perfect Game." It is signed under the writing in the same faded ink: "Jim Bunning." That game - his second no-hitter - was the personal apex of the Hall of Fame right-hander's career, especially since he also doubled and drove in two runs at the plate.
