1965-66 Roberto Clemente San Juan Senadores Signed Player's Contract (PSA)

1965-66 Roberto Clemente San Juan Senadores Signed Player's Contract (PSA)

Proud document is the 1965-66 baseball contract of and signed by Roberto Walker Clemente for this term of employment with the San Juan Senadores. Scarce signed player contract for the team that translates to San Juan Senators and was akin to the New York Yankees of the Puerto Rican League. Clemente loved playing for San Juan in his home state of Puerto Rico and he returned each winter as the local boy who made good. It was actually this beneficence that led to his untimely death. He of course passed away in a plane crash on his way to Nicaragua on New Year's Eve 1972. Bringing relief supplies on an overloaded plane out of San Juan, the planer was unable to maintain altitude and crashed into the ocean. 9/10 signature is on the back page and piece is framed to 14x28" overall. PSA LOA.The importance of Roberto Clemente and his contributions are many. The first true Latin superstar he served as a role model for a diversity of cultures. His memory and the desire for his memorabilia is as string as it ever was. This fine piece exemplifies this theory as much as anything.
