1966 Cal McLish Philadelphia Phillies Game Worn Coaches Jersey
Philadelphia Phillies road jersey worn by pitching coach Cal McLish in 1966. The gray flannel jersey features a chenille number "2" on the reverse in maroon and white. The name "McLish" is chain-stitched in navy upon a gray strip tag in the collar. Located on the left front tail are a "Wilson size 44" label and two adjacent flag tags that read, respectively "Set 1" and "66" (denoting the year). The lettering on the front, which read "Phillies," has been removed, but the stitch outline of its former location is clearly visible. Like most jerseys from the era, this one was sent down for use in the minors, which is when the lettering was removed. Aside from the team name being removed, the jersey is original as issued. Heavy wear is evident throughout, including thread loss to the number, and a few light stains. McLish, who enjoyed a fine 15-year Major League pitching career, was the pitching coach for the Phillies in both 1965 and 1966.
