1966 Eddie Mathews Game Worn Atlanta Braves Jersey
Offered is Hall of Fame slugging third baseman’s road jersey from the first year the Braves were in Atlanta. This was worn during Mathews’ final season playing for the team that would make him the only three-city player in history with the same franchise. The Braves opened the 1966 season with this style of jersey, the same as their Milwaukee uniforms of the previous year and stayed with it for 2 seasons, making this style of Atlanta Braves jersey a 2-year style. You cannot own a Braves jersey of more prominence than this one (other than of course Hank Aaron). Eddie Mathews was the premier power-hitting third baseman of his day and one of the most important players in Braves history. This jersey is a great example of a late Mathews gamer, showing excellent use and wear, but in fabulous display condition. “Braves 41” across the chest in script style red on navy tackle twill. “41” fills the back. Left sleeve bears the Braves’ head patch. “Mathews 1966 1” embroidered in navy thread on a plate in the collar. Tagging on front left tail is “Rawling [size] 44” with care tag below near the bottom seam.
