It may have happened nearly 40 years ago but to veteran Cardinal rooters, Bob Gibson’s 17-strikeout masterpiece in Game 1 of the 1968 World Series is so fresh in the mind that it could have been just yesterday. And this classic photo of the moments following the last Detroit Tiger out certainly is an exhilarating refresher. The sepia toned free frame shows Gibson being glad-handed by his catcher Tim McCarver as third baseman Mike Shannon trots over with an ear-to-ear grin on his face. The matted and gold-framed photo with a plaque at bottom center identifying the scene hung in Cardinals Club. It measures 39” long and 32” wide and is EX-MT. (Estimate $300 - $500)
