1967 Boog Powell Baltimore Orioles Signed Game Worn Jersey

1967 Boog Powell Baltimore Orioles Signed Game Worn Jersey

Boog Powell was a big man, especially for his time. He stood 6'4" and weighed 240 lbs. during his playing career, and announcer Joe Garagiola said, "If Boog Powell stuck out his arm, he'd be a railroad crossing." Presented is a 1967 very rare Boog Powell game worn home white jersey. It is all original - which makes it even rarer. Powell played 17 years in the Major Leagues: His first 14 years with Baltimore, two years with the Cleveland Indians, and his final season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. A first baseman and outfielder, he was on two World Champion teams with the Orioles. Boog was a 4-time All-Star, and he hit 339 career homers. In 1967, when Powell worn this jersey, he hit .234, with 13 home runs and 55 RBIs. His best season was with Baltimore in 1970 when he won the AL MVP and hit .297, with 34 home runs and 114 RBIs. The front of the white home jersey has Orioles, written in orange script with black trim, sewn on. Seven silver buttons run down the middle. The left front tail has a Wilson manufacturer's tag with the size indication not visible. Under the manufacturer's tag is a tag reading "67-1," indicating the year and set number for the jersey. Powell has signed the jersey in neat script, in black marker, above the Wilson tag. On the back is "POWELL," in sewn on black letters. Underneath the name is "26," in orange numerals with black trim. The ends of the short sleeves and the neck have orange and black piping. In the six years from 1966 through 1971, the Orioles won four pennants and World Series in 1966 and 1970. Powell was part of this Baltimore Oriole dynasty and was a starter for all six of those seasons, as were fellow starters, Hall of Famers Brooks and Frank Robinson. The jersey exhibits fine use, and it is in excellent condition. If we were to grade this jersey on a scale of 1 to 10, this is a 10.
