1967 Cleon Jones New York Mets Signed Game Used Glove (PSA)
Cleon Jones was a key part of the New York Mets 1968 World Championship team. Offered is a game used signed Cleon Jones circa 1967 fielder's glove (for a left-handed thrower). Jones broke into the Major Leagues with the Mets in 1963 and saw very limited action with the team in '63, and he was with the Mets again in '65 for very limited appearances. He became the Mets' regular left fielder in 1966 and stayed with the Mets through 1975, finishing his career with the Chicago White Sox in '76. The glove was game used circa 1967, and based on its apparent substantial use, for a time after 1967. In 1967, Cleon batted .246 with five home runs. By '68, his batting average rose to .297 and he hit 14 home runs. Then came 1969 and the Miracle Mets. Jones had his best season, batting .340, with 12 homers and a career high .904 OPS. Jones had a lifetime batting average of .281. The fielder's glove is manufactured by MacGregor, Model Number KC2. The size is 12.5", made of kangaroo. The glove has a pro-style single post double T-bar web. The original MacGregor label on the wrist has frayed to the point where the MacGregor name cannot be seen. Jones has autographed the face of the ring finger in black pen, and his uniform number appears in black marker on the back of the thumb. The glove exhibits evidence of great use, and great wear can be seen in the pocket, the face of the web, the laces and throughout the body of the glove. The glove comes with both a PSA LOA and a Beckett Certificate of Authenticity.
