1967 Maury Wills Pittsburgh Pirates Game Worn Jersey

1967 Maury Wills Pittsburgh Pirates Game Worn Jersey

After spending his first seven years with the Dodgers, speedy switch-hitting shortstop Maury Wills moved east to Pittsburgh for the 1967 season and while there donned this all-original home jersey that remains in beautiful condition while showing moderate use. The vest style has "Pirates" across the front in black on yellow felt, along with the number 30 (also on the back in the same black on yellow felt). There are a few loose anchor stitches on the number on the back. There is also Rawlings Size 42 tagging on the front tail along with washing instructions and "Set 1 1966" flag tag. This was likely a blank jersey left over from the 1966 season as no player wore number 30 on the 1966 team. Wills was the first to use it in 1967, a scenario that was hardly unconventional at the time. Comes with 1967 Sports Illustrated baseball preview issue featuring Wills on the cover and also a KDKA promo card of Wills in a home Pirates jersey.
