1967 Rocky Marciano Signed Typed Letter with Clay vs. Terrell Content
This is a fascinating letter typewritten and signed in 1967 by boxing legend Rocky Marciano to William Reinmuth, Jr. of Sports Quest. In the letter, Marciano discusses the upcoming fight between Cassius Clay and Ernie Terrell. Marciano explains that he doesn't think Clay will have an easy time with Terrell like he has had with his previous opponents, citing Ernie's pure punching style, three inch height advantage and longer reach. Marciano also mentions the badmouthing already going on, and references Terrell's refusal to refer to Clay as his new Muslim name, "Muhammad Ali". Ali ended up dominating the fight, breaking both Terrell's will and eye. The letter is mounted to board but is otherwise EX. Marciano's signature is a healthy 7/10.
