1968-69 New York Jets Championship Ring
Expense was no object in the creation of this magnificent piece of 14-karat white gold by Balfour. Its beauty cannot even be translated into words. This is without a doubt the most magnificent, breathtaking championship ring we have ever had the duty of offering. In fact, it is safe to say that it may never be surpassed in quality and elegance. To commemorate their only championship season, and the greatest upset in the history of the game, the New York Jets players requested that as many diamonds as possible be set. In line with their request, there is a 75-point diamond set in the football shaped green topaz spinel. This is surrounded by six more diamonds, 20-points each. The ring cost $2,000 to make back in 1969. Top is headlined by “New York Jets” and underlined by “World Champions.” Right shank is the name, “Grant” with Jets helmet and football with the word, “Director” inside. The word “Poise” is engraved below. Left shank is large “A” for the AFL in the midst of several banners which read “Super Bowl”, “Jets 16, Colts 7”, “Jets 27, Raiders 23”, and “Champs.” The word “Execution” engraved below. Presented to New York Jets Director, Grant. Size 10. Sparkling, NRMT.
