1968 NBA Playoff Game - Wilt Chamberlain & Bill Russell in Action Photograph (PSA Type I)
Original Type I photograph capturing the Philadelphia 76ers' Wilt Chamberlain and Boston Celtics' Bill Russell competing on the hardwood during the playoffs in 1968. Chamberlain is seen in mid-air as he fights for the rebound against an unidentified Celtics player who is hanging over his back. Russell stands at the ready next to Chamberlain, as the remaining players from both teams look on. A credit label affixed to the reverse identifies the photographer as "Leo Tierney" and the date "April 14th 68." This scene took place in Game 4 of the NBA Eastern Division Finals, which Philadelphia won 110-105. The victory gave the 76ers a 3-1 lead in the series, but they could not close it. Boston won the next three games and then went on to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers 4-2 in the NBA finals, which marked the club's seventh World Championship of the decade. The photo (9x7") displays light creasing throughout. Very Good condition. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
