1968 Reggie Jackson Oakland A's Game Worn Signed Rookie Jersey (MEARS 10)
Undoubtedly one of the greatest players of all time, this signed jersey of Reggie Jackson's from his rookie year with the Oakland A's befits a player of his stature. The yellow, vest-style jersey was awarded a perfect score of 10 by MEARS, which found no reason to deduct any points based on five categories of grading criteria. Long before Jackson was Mr. October, he debuted for the Kansas City Athletics in 1967, though recording less than 130 at-bats he did not qualify for rookie status and the team moved to Oakland the following year. In 1968, he played in 154 games for Oakland, batting .254 and slugging 29 home runs to go along with 74 RBIs. He also led the league in strikeouts. It was a very promising start for Jackson, and the next year he would cement his place as one of the league's best by smacking 47 long balls and at one point was on pace to surpass Maris' single-season record. This beautiful A's alternate has "OAKLAND" sewn in green and white with embroidered letters on the front. The number "9" appears on the back without Jackson's name, which was the style of the time. The all-original jersey shows nice use but is still in wonderful condition; it has everything that one could wish for in a game-used jersey. A McAuliffe size 44 and "68" year tag can be found on the front tail and on the opposing side Jackson's signature appears in 6/10 black marker. This is Jackson's highest rated rookie jersey and a true gem.
