1968 Topps Baseball Near Set
Known as the Year of the Pitcher, 1968 marked a shift weighing heavily in favor of the defense for the first time in baseball. Some impressive pitching milestones were reached during that season, such as Bob Gibson's record-setting ERA of 1.12. This lot is an almost-complete set of Topps baseball cards documenting that landmark year, with hundreds of the classic vintage collectables. Some notables include Willie Mays, Pete Rose, Al Kaline, a Nolan Ryan/Jerry Koosman rookie card, a Johnny Bench/Ron Tompkins rookie card, Roger Maris in his second season with the St. Louis Cardinals and Mickey Mantle (all in EX condition), and a 1967 Home Run Leaders card featuring Hank Aaron, Jim Wynn, Ron Santo and Willie McCovey that is PSA graded EX 5. The set is nearly complete and would be a great addition to any collection.
