1968 Warren Spahn Tulsa Oilers PCL Championship Ring

1968 Warren Spahn Tulsa Oilers PCL Championship Ring

Three years after retiring from the major leagues, and five years before his enshrinement in Cooperstown, pitching ace Warren Spahn was imparting his knowledge as manager of the triple-a affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Tulsa Oilers. The 1968 Oilers won the Pacific Coast League championship that season - their last in that circuit before moving to the American Association the following spring. Obtained directly from the Warren Spahn personal collection, this NRMT Size 10 ring features an onyx stone in the center with "1968 PACIFIC COAST CHAMPIONS" encircling it. One shank has generic bat and ball graphics, while the other side has the team name and logo. "PCL MANAGER OF THE YEAR" is engraved inside, along with "10K" and "Jostens." A 17-time All-Star, Spahn made his mark as skipper of the Oilers with five strong seasons at the helm. He later coached in Mexico, Japan and in the Indians' and Angels' organizations.
