1969 Bob Gibson St. Louis Cardinals Game Worn Uniform (MEARS GU10)
A perfect ten. This ultimate Gibson is graded 10/10 by MEARS. Delicious matching road jersey and pants are from one of the greatest pitchers of his time or any. This beauty is a perfect specimen (there's that word again) and is 100 percent original and unrestored. Gorgeous style sports the embroidered "Cardinals" across the chest with birds perched on bat on front, with his powerful "45" in red-on-blue felt on the verso. And a bonus, the jersey boasts the original 1969 MLB 100th Anniversary patch sewn on the left sleeve. Essential style roars "GIBSON" sewn directly onto the back with again his "45" below. All with the same matching red-on-blue felt. As it should, comes with the Rawlings size 44 tag on front tail with "Gibson 69" chain stitched below and washing instructions along with Set 1 1969 flag tag at the very bottom. Blazing autograph across the front in 9/10 black Sharpie "Bob Gibson 1969." Matching pants have "Gibson, 69, 34, 25 1/2" tagging sewn in the waist band with handwritten "45". Shows the type of use we all crave, yet is still in great condition with no stains or rips. This 1969 uniform follows perhaps the greatest year by any Major League pitcher in history. Despite rule changes made pretty much just for him (known as the "Gibson Rules"), Bob Gibson went 20–13 with a 2.18 ERA, four shutouts and 28 complete games. On May 12th, he had what is known as an "immaculate inning" striking out three batters in one inning on nine pitches. To boot, it was versus the powerful Los Angeles Dodgers with a lineup that would make lesser men shake. He did not disappoint in 1969 when wearing this very jersey to one victory after another.
