1969 Don Drysdale Signed Game Worn Jersey

1969 Don Drysdale Signed Game Worn Jersey

"The pitcher has to find out if the hitter is timid, and if he is timid, he has to remind the hitter he's timid."-Don Drysdale. In 1956, the man his teammates called "Big D", made his MLB debut with the Dodgers and quickly earned a reputation as a fierce competitor who wasn't afraid to hit a batter who crowded the plate. For thirteen years the game's premiere power pitcher dominated with blazing speed and pin point placement that always kept his opponents on the defensive and from 1957-1966, Drysdale and his equally charismatic teammate, Sandy Koufax, were simply unstoppable. Presented is a phenomenal game used jersey from the former Cy Young winner's last season in the majors. The "road" grey style has "Los Angeles" sewn across the front in blue felt along with his number "53" in red felt, while a larger "53" rests on the verso in blue felt. The left sleeve owns an original "MLB 100th Anniversary" patch and "Rawlings [size] 46" tagging can be found on the tail above "Drysdale 69" (chain-stitched in blue thread). Present also is "Do Not Dry Clean" and "Set 1 1969" tagging. This Hall of Fame worthy specimen exhibits nice, even use throughout and exists in perfect display condition. Complete with Don's signature and inscription, "To Bob- My Best Wishes-Don Drysdale" (9/10) on the front chest. An absolutely perfect example that is 100% original.
