1969 Ed Kirkpatrick Kansas City Royals Game Worn Jersey
Two years after the Athletics moved west to Oakland, Kansas City welcomed its new Major League team to town in 1969 - the Royals. Here‚s a special home jersey from that inaugural season that is all-original but for the MLB 100th Anniversary patch that has been removed from the right sleeve, probably when it was used again in 1970. It belonged to pitcher and catcher Ed Kirkpatrick, who holds the distinction of recording the final base hit at Kansas City‚s Municipal Stadium in 1970. The simple but elegant jersey features the ROYALS nickname is stitched across the chest in royal blue, with number 8 on the back. There is a Wilson Size 42 tag on the front tail, as well as a "69 - Set 3" swatch.
