1969 Richie Hebner Pittsburgh Pirates Game Worn Home Jersey (Rookie Year)
Formerly an off-season gravedigger at his father's cemetery, Richie Hebner led all National League rookies in 1969 with a .301 batting average for the Pittsburgh Pirates. This 1969 white Pirate home jersey is from Hebner's rookie year. "Pirates" is stitched on the front, the player number "20" is stitched on the front and back, both done in black on yellow felt. Black and yellow piping is present on the collar and arm holes. "Hebner," "44" and "69" are embroidered in black on the front left tail, indicating the player name, size and year, respectively. Below this is the red "Rawlings" manufacturer's tag with the size "44" in black, and below this is the wash instructions tag. Jersey appears to be all-original with no alterations, shows nice use with staining and fabric wear. Included is a pair of game-used white Pirates pants from 1968, unknown player (not Hebner), white felt tag sewn into the waist that has been embroidered in black with "36" and "26" indicating the size and inseam, respectively. The pants have been taken in, partially obscuring the tag. Also sewn into the waist is a red "Rawlings" manufacturer's tag with size "36" in black, a wash tag and a small white flag tag that reads "Set 1, 1968." Inside the waist, several names and numbers have been written in black marker and crossed out. Pants show nice use as well.
