1969 Rod Gaspar New York Mets Game Worn Jersey

1969 Rod Gaspar New York Mets Game Worn Jersey

This jersey was worn by New York Mets outfielder Rod Gaspar during his rookie year of 1969, which also happened to be the Miracle Mets World Championship season! The gray flannel road jersey has "NEW YORK" across the front in blue felt on orange tackle twill. The number 40 appears in blue on orange tackle twill on both the front and back. (Yes, Gaspar did wear number 17, but the numbers were changed from 17 to 40 by the team when the jersey was reused the following year for spring training.) A strip tag reading "17-40-69 Set 1" is sewn into the collar; a Wilson size 40 tag is sewn on the left front tail. There is a Mets patch on the left sleeve; the Major League Baseball 100th Anniversary patch has been removed. Jersey is in nice condition and shows fine use. A great memento of the Miracle Mets.
