1970-71 Marshall University Tragedy (26 pieces)
Tragic plane crash that inspired the 2006 film We Are Marshall. Some truly rare material is here including 1) Collection of photographs includes four rare 8x10” images of the funerals taken by a local photographer. November 21, 1970 images show the field house ceremony, filing past coffins and more. Plus, there are 17 newsphotos (lasers) relating to the crash with grief on campus, players who died and survived, team photos, action shots, and more. 2) Scarce 1970 yearbook of the team that was devastated by the crash. Has one clip o/w EX. Pictures all the players. 72-pages. 3) 1971 media guide has absolutely no mention of the tragedy. Only the bio has Coach Jack Lengyel speaking of the “challenge.” NRMT. 4) Two page news ticker regarding the aftermath of the cash plus vintage newspaper article.
