1970 Pete Rose Complete Game Worn Uniform Including Jersey, Pants and Stirrups

1970 Pete Rose Complete Game Worn Uniform Including Jersey, Pants and Stirrups

Few players in any sport are more celebrated, controversial, or downright notable than Pete Rose. By any account, Rose was a marvelous standout in the world of Major League Baseball. A switch hitter, Rose holds to this day the record for all-time hits in MLB history with an astonishing 4,256 slams. In addition, he holds records for games played (3,562), at-bats (14,053), and outs (10,328), and brought home a full three World Series rings. Despite his remarkable record, his widely publicized controversy and post-career disgrace resulted in a ban from all professional baseball, and kept him out of his rightful place in the Hall of Fame. This item, Rose's full 1970 uniform, is a complete set comprised of his jersey, pants, and stirrups. The Rawlings jersey bares the classic Cincinnati Reds design, in cream with a red number 14 on the right breast, and the Reds logo emblazoned across the left. On the bottom right, the numbers "42 70" are embroidered in red, representing the size and year respectively. Wash instructions and tag remain perfectly intact inside on the bottom right, with an attached tag reading “SET 1 #8 P 1970." Across the back, "ROSE 14" is sewn on in brilliant red glory. The jersey is in amazing condition, but shows great game use, and presents wonderfully. The pants, also Rawlings, have similar wash and flag tags to the jersey, and are embroidered along the back of the waistband with "Rose 33 ? / 32 26 70" in red script. They are also in solid condition, but show especially excellent game use, with dirt stains on the knees, staining and scuffs around the upper left, and some repairs done to the rear of the right leg. The stirrups remain a bright red, but show good use in the form of several small holes worn into the fabric. Each has the number 32 embroidered in white by the foot loops. All three parts of the outfit look as if Rose had taken them off yesterday, with that perfect balance of stunning use and minimal aging that makes for a marvelous showpiece for any true fan of the game. This is a once-in-a-lifetime item, and a guaranteed centerpiece for any collection, no matter how complete or comprehensive.
