1970 Roberto Clemente Day Signed Letter (PSA)

1970 Roberto Clemente Day Signed Letter (PSA)

Shortly after the Pirates moved from Forbes Field to their new setting at Three Rivers Stadium, the Pittsburgh franchise paid tribute to one of their greatest ever. This letter was sent to thank people for participating and giving gifts for the festivities of Roberto Clemente Day on July 24, 1970. It is signed in 7.5/10 black ball point pen by Clemente and bears a great letterhead that also has Roberto's picture on it. It has typical mailing folds and a few stains at the top of the letter. Thousands of dollars were raised for charity that night at Clemente's request, a sign of how much larger the native of Puerto Rico was than the game itself. Comes with PSA LOA.
