1970 Willie Mays All Star Game Presentational Bat

1970 Willie Mays All Star Game Presentational Bat

Presentational bat awarded at the 1970 All Star game to legendary Hall of Famer Willie Mays. Adirondack Mays model 302 bat is unused and has a plate between the trademark and barrel stamp reading, "To Commemorate the 1970 All Star Game - Riverfront Stadium - Cincinnati, Ohio." Worth noting that the replica "signature" burned into the barrel bears no resemblance to Mays' actual autograph. The bat is in beautiful NRMT condition, and these were presented to all the players at that year's Midsummer Classic. The prototype of the "5-tool player," Mays could do it all, as evidenced by his 660 career home runs, 12 Gold Glove awards, and leading the National League in steals on four occasions. How great was the Say Hey Kid? This bat is from the 21st of his incredible 24 All Star games (2nd all time only to Hank Aaron), including a 4-year span in which there were actually two ASGs played. His only full playing season in which he did not qualify was his 1951 Rookie of the Year campaign.
