1970s Houston Oilers and Atlanta Falcons Game Used Helmets
The Houston Oilers helmet is a 1972 Riddell KRA-LITE helmet. On each side is the Oilers logo, with white and red vinyl stripes down the center of the helmet. On the back the Riddell name and “KRA-LITE” model name are stamped into the helmet. The 12-point canvas web suspension is stamped with the size “7 ?” on the headband, and stamped “7” on a canvas strap on the inside back of the helmet, both stampings in black ink. Both helmets feature the Riddell single bar (BT-5) type face mask. Chin straps are correct from the time period. The Wilson Atlanta Falcons F-2101 model helmet is from the late 1970s or early 1980s and was worn by Mick Luckhurst. Correct decals and mill thickness. The Wilson logo along with model number and the size “7 3/8 - 7 ?” is stamped in gold on the rear of the helmet. Also on the rear of the helmet is a manufacturers warning sticker. Foam padded suspension is attached to the inside of the helmet with velcro on white nylon strapping. The single bar type face protector is black plastic covered metal. 2 pt. chinstrap has felt lining on the inside “chin” portion of the strap and is stamped with the Riddell name in red. Both helmets feature correct jaw pads. Both show good game use with scratches, several gouges and good overall wear.
