1970s Ken Burrough Houston Oilers Signed Game Worn Cleats
Pair of white-and-blue Puma football cleats worn by two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Ken Burrough during his tenure with the Houston Oilers. Each cleat bears Burrough's uniform number ("00") written in black marker on the interior. (Burrough was the last player in the NFL to wear "00" after the league mandated changes to uniform numbers in 1973.) Burrough has signed each cleat in red ink (averaging 7/10) on the outer side near the heel. The cleats display heavy wear, indicative of multi-game use. One of the NFL's top receivers during the 1970s, Burrough helped lead the Oilers to two consecutive AFC Championship games in 1978 and 1979. He retired in 1981 with 7,102 yards and 49 touchdowns.
