1970s "Tattoo" Parlour Original Handpainted Sign

1970s "Tattoo" Parlour Original Handpainted Sign

A great piece of tattoo art unto itself, this was done by the tattoo artist and hung in his shop for decades. This gorgeous period piece in brilliant colors came from the Syracuse, New York, area. Outstanding 24x70" sign is painted on 1/2" plywood; all original, it has some holes where it was hung adding to the character. This is a fabulous future investment as tattoo art is becoming more and more important, and early, definitive pieces such as this one are highly scarce and collected. According to a 2013 New York Times article, the genre is making the transition from "cult to fine art." Important pieces have already brought prices in the millions at auction.
