1971-72 Oscar Robertson NBA All Pro Award Medal
<p>Presented is a beautiful Chris Schenkel Award Medallion that was awarded to Oscar Robertson for his selection as a 1971-72 NBA All Pro. Schenkel was a veteran sportscaster, and he is in the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame. These medallions were only issued for the 1971-72 season, and they were awarded to the top ten players for both the NBA and the ABA>. Oscar Robertson had a 14-year NBA career, playing for the Cincinnati Royals and the Milwaukee Bucks as a 6'5" point guard. "The Big O" was an incredible all-around player. He was the first NBA player to average a Triple-Double, as in the 1961-62 season he scored 30.8 PPG, 12.5 rebounds per game, and 12.5 assists. He is the only NBA player, except for Russell Westbrook to have averaged a Triple-Double for an entire season. The impressive medal (2.5" in diameter) is made of bronze. The front is inscribed "The Chris Schenkel Medallion/NBA All Pro". The back of the medallion reads, "Awarded to Oscar Robertson 71-72". In the previous season (1970-71) Robertson and Kareem Abdul Jabbar led the Milwaukee Bucks to the NBA Championship. In the 1971-72 season the Bucks lost in the Western Conference Finals to the Los Angeles Lakers. The medal is in NRMT condition. It is a unique remembrance for Robertson, a member of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame and a member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. The medallion comes directly from Oscar Robertsont.</p>
