1971 Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier One-Sheet Film Poster
One-sheet movie poster issued in promotion of the first epic heavyweight title fight between Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali in 1971. Dubbed "The Fight of the Century," the fight lived up to its billing as Frazier defeated Ali in fifteen grueling rounds to retain the heavyweight championship. Immediately afterward, a film of the fight was released to theaters so it could be seen by those who could not attend the bout or pay for the closed-circuit television broadcast, which was shown live at select arenas across the country. The poster, which pictures large images of both fighters, makes it clear in large red print at the base that the fight "Will Not Be Shown On Home TV For At Least 6 Months!" The poster (28x41") displays normal horizontal and vertical folds (as issued) along the lines of which are several tears. A few small creases and additional edge tears are also evident. In Good to Very Good condition overall. The poster has been stored rolled for many years and will be shipped rolled.
