The Pirates’ third championship season provided the vehicle which brought the great Roberto Clemente into the consciousness of the American public – the 1971 World Series. Batting .414 with twelve hits and several defensive gems, Numero Uno showcased the full spectrum of his immense talents and endeared himself to a generation.
