1973 Jim Nance New York Jets Game Worn Jersey
<p>Jim Nance was a running back and fullback who played nine seasons in the AFL and NFL. Presented is his game worn New York Jets' jersey from 1973. Nance, whose nickname was "Big Jim", stood 6'1 and weighed 260 lbs. He began his professional career with the Boston Patriots of the AFL in 1965. He stayed with the Patriots when they became the New England Patriots in 1971. Nance was out of football in 1972, and in 1973 he came back to play with the New York Jets. In seven games in '73, his lone season with the Jets, Nance had 18 carries for 78 yards and caught four passes for 26 yards, and the Jets finished at 4-10 for 4th place in the AFC East Division. Nance's best professional season was in 1966 with the Boston Patriots when he rushed for an AFL leading 1,458 yards, scored 11 touchdowns, and was named the AFL Player of the Year by the Associated Press and United Press International and the AFL's MVP. He was also the AFL's leading rusher in 1967, with 1,216 yards. In his career in the AFL/NFL, the 2-time AFL All-Star had 1,341 rushes for 5,401 yards, a 4.0 average. After a season off in 1974, Nance came back for a final season after signing with the Shreveport Steams of the World Football L<span style="font-size: 13px;">eague. </span>He passed away in 1992. The mesh jersey is green, with white trim. On the front "35" is stenciled in numerals across the chest. The back has "NANCE" in white stenciled letters across the upper back and "35" in white numerals below that. Each of the custom hemmed sleeves has the Jets' logo and under that "35" in green stenciled numerals. The jersey also has an attached jock strap. On the lower front outside tail is a Champion Products manufacturer's tag, with washing instructions and a smaller tag below that showing "XL" for size. The jersey shows a few paint transfers. Overall, the jersey shows light use, and it is in excellent condition.</p>
