1973 World Champion New York Knicks Team-Signed Baseball (PSA)
Presented is a very unusual cross-sport memento. The 1972-73 New York Knicks had a 57-25 regular season, then advanced in the playoffs and defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 4-1 in games to become World Champions. Presented is an Official National League Baseball (White) signed by all five starters on the NBA Champs, each a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, plus their Hall of Fame coach, Red Holzman. Knicks who signed: HOF center Willis Reed, HOF forward Dave DeBusschere, HOF forward Bill Bradley, HOF guard Walt "Clyde" Frazier and HOF guard Earl "The Pearl" Monroe. An additional signature is by reserve guard Dean Meminger. Dave DeBusschere's signature on the baseball rates special mention. DeBusschere is one of only 13 athletes to have ever played both in Major League Baseball and in the NBA. DeBusschere played in two seasons (1962-63) for the Chicago White Sox as a right-handed pitcher. He had already started his NBA career with the Detroit Pistons, and he juggled playing both sports, going from season to season without any substantial break. DeBusschere's lifetime Major League record is 4-3, with an amazing ERA for such a dual athlete of only 2.90. With Bill Bradley's signature, a collector obtains the autograph not only from a great college and professional player, but also from a noteworthy politician, as Bradley served three terms (18 years) as a United States Senator from New Jersey, and he competed for the 2000 Democratic party nomination for the United States Presidency. Each of the players' autographs is in blue ink from a ballpoint pen, and Red Holzman's signature is in black ink from a ballpoint pen. The signatures as a whole rate as 9/10. The signed ball comes with a PSA Letter of Authenticity. The signed baseball from the NBA Champions is the only one we have seen, and it makes a great collectible. Comes with PSA LOA.
