1974 Bernie Carbo Boston Red Sox Game Worn Uniform
Beautiful Bernie Carbo game used home jersey. Carbo consistently "marched to be the beat of his own drummer," forming an informal group of non-conformist Red Sox players, called "The Buffalo Heads," along with Ferguson Jenkins and Bill "Spaceman" Lee. Outfielder Carbo was often a pinch-hitter, and in the Red Sox 1975 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds, he tied an all-time MLB record by hitting two home runs in a World Series. The second homer was a three-run shot in the 8th inning of the sixth game that tied the score at 6-6 and enabled Carlton Fisk to win the game with a homer in the 12th inning, with the Red Sox eventually winning the Series in Game 7. Jersey is tagged for 1973 with McAuliffe and size 38 tags in tail. Next to tagging is handwritten "B. Carbo" in green. Shows heavy use with dirt stains on shoulders and loose threads. Pants are tagged for 1974. Great item worn by a man "who broke the mold" and endeared himself to Red Sox rooters by both performance and personality.
