1975 Bob Robertson Pittsburgh Pirates Signed Game Worn Jersey

Pittsburgh Pirates announcer Bob Prince said of Pirate first baseman Bob Robertson's power, "He could hit a ball out of any park - including Yellowstone." Presented is a signed Bob Robertson 1975 Pittsburgh Pirates jersey. Robertson's peak was reached in the 1971 post-season. In the Pirates' Game 2 victory in the NLCS over the San Francisco Giants, Robertson hit three home runs; he then added a double to set a record for the most total bases in a post-season game. Robertson hit another home run in that NLCS and added two more homers in the Pirates' World Series championship as they defeated the Baltimore Orioles. Injuries derailed Robertson's career after the 1971 World Series, and although he played 11 MLB seasons, he could never regain his earlier power. The jersey is all original, with lots of minor staining. The "7" on the back has spots where the first layer of black tackle twill is frayed - probably sent down to the minors as the name "Rice" is written in small letters on the collar. There is also a spot on the left sleeve indicating it might have been used in 1976 (Baseball Centennial) as well, but again there are no changes to letters and numbering. Front has "Pirates" across the chest in black with gold trim. The front also sports a small "7" in black with white trim. Tagging on the front tail shows "Wilson" as the manufacturer and "44" as size. Another front tail tag reads "7-44-75" showing the number, size, and year. The jersey is signed in the front as "Bob Robertson #7" in neat, black felt tipped marker. This signed jersey conjures memories of the "We Are Family" powerful Pirates of the 1970s.
