1975 Bruce Springsteen "The Landlordess" Handwritten Letter

1975 Bruce Springsteen "The Landlordess" Handwritten Letter

Regards the house he rented in Long Branch, New Jersey in 1974-75 where he composed the songs that would become his breakthrough album Born To Run. 8x11" letter by Bruce to his landlady postmarked May 8, 1975. To quote: Dear Landlordess, This is the only water bill I have. I think there was one other one but it wasn't much and I took care of it myself. Anyway, they haven't sent any notices so I guess it's o.k. Sorry the rent is late this month but I forgot to tell the office in N.Y. that they were gonna send it out. If you don't have it now it's in the mail and should arrive tomorrow or the next day. Your ever gracious tenant, Bruce Springsteen. P.S. do you like this classy writing paper? P.S.S. I'm practicing my auto-graph, whadya think?" Bruce was on the threshold of national stardom and the rent was late! Fascinating notation about the practicing of his autograph. Letter is framed and matted to 19x25" with original 1975 CBS promotional still. Includes the original handwritten envelope, which is a bit worn. Letter has folds but the ink is nice and is on the written on the same spiral notebook paper on which he composed the songs featured on Born To Run. Very few Springsteen handwritten letters are known in collector's hands, let alone one with this interesting content.
