1975 Miguel Canto "The Ring" Championship Boxing Belt (ex-Nat Fleischer)

1975 Miguel Canto "The Ring" Championship Boxing Belt (ex-Nat Fleischer)

On January 8, 1975, Miguel Canto faced WBC World Flyweight Champion Shoji Oguma. Canto defeated Oguma by a fifteen-round decision to claim the WBC title and vacant Ring Magazine title. Offered here is the championship belt awarded to Canto for his win that night. From the collection of the founder of Ring Magazine, Nat Fleischer, this belt consists of a center plate which rests on a gold, red, white and blue satin sash, with leather strap and buckle at the ends are perfectly intact. The gold color metal plate has a plate plaque attached which is inscribed, "WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP AWARD WON BY MIGUEL CANTO MEXICO ON JANUARY 8, 1975 IN SENDAI, JAPAN." Slight color fade to sash, but no other noticeable flaws. Approximately 35" long, a rare memento.
