1975 Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier "Thrilla In Manila" - Rare Onsite Pennant (without Tassels)
Rare onsite felt pennant from the final bout in the trilogy between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, on October 1, 1975. Measuring roughly 7.5" wide by 9.5" to the tip, the pennant is primarily green with black images of both fighters, who split their first two matches to set up this legendary, brutal, battle of the heavyweights. Top reads in white on green background, "A thrilla in Manila" along with the date; at the bottom is ALI-FRAZIER-Fight of a Lifetime." A line of foxing runs down the left margin and a stain appears at the top border but considering its relatively light weight, the pennant is in outstanding condition. The Greatest won when Smokin' Joe failed to answer the bell after 14 grueling rounds, though Ali famously noted that he, too, was close to throwing in the towel as each fighter tried in vain to definitively vanquish the other.
