1976 Al Oliver Pittsburgh Pirates Centennial Pillbox Baseball Hat

1976 Al Oliver Pittsburgh Pirates Centennial Pillbox Baseball Hat

Created for the National League Centennial in 1976, the pillbox style baseball cap represented 100 years of baseball (1876-1976). This style has a simple but elegant three-piece construction with a broad band of wool as the body, a circular top and flexible visor with a stitched "P" for Pittsburgh Pirates in the center. Has some nice wear, the inside band is soiled from sweat, size 7, with a "New Era" silk tag and a worn, faded 16 on the inside of the visor, along with intertwined gold lining. Someone wrote inside in 1976, though it has really lightened from the years, "Al Oliver's Hat Pittsburgh Pirates."
