1976 Ken Coleman Cincinnati Reds World Championship Ring

1976 Ken Coleman Cincinnati Reds World Championship Ring

As defending World Champions, Cincinnati’s “Big Red Machine” faced a daunting challenge in a building, but already powerful, Yankees team. But the Bombers were literally dismantled in four games by one of the best and most perfectly balanced teams of all time. The numbers still amaze: runs scored 22-8, combined batting average .313 - .222, combined ERA 2.0 - 5.45. A certain very well-remembered catcher named Johnny Bench went 8 for 15, with two home runs and 6 RBIs. In 1975, veteran sports announcer Ken Coleman had begun a four year stay as announcer for Cincinnati, sandwiched between long tours with the Red Sox. This is the original World Series ring awarded to Ken Coleman, and his name is prominent on one shank. A large and definitely convincing diamond is set in the center, ringed by the World Series trophy design of pennants and ball, and by “’76 World Champions / Cincinnati Reds”. On one shank, “Reds 4 - Yanks 0” appears, atop an image of Riverfront Stadium and the National League Centennial seal. “Coleman” appears on the other shank, above “Big Red Machine” and the iconic Cincinnati “C". The ring has been sized to Size 11, but part of Balfour stamping and the 10K marking are still visible inside. Included with the ring is a Letter of Authenticity from the person who purchased it directly from the Coleman estate. Condition is NRMT. Guaranteed to bring back memories.
