Presented is a Tony Dorsett signed ticket stub from his superb game when the tailback clinched the 1976 Heisman Trophy when he rushed for 254 yards and two touchdowns for his University of Pittsburgh Panthers against the visiting Nittany Lions of Penn State at Three Rivers Stadium on Nov. 26, 1976. The Pittsburgh Panthers were 11-0 going into the game, and Penn State was 7-4. The score was 7-7 at the half, and Johnny Majors, Pittsburgh's coach, moved Dorsett to fullback for the second half, and Dorsett's running broke the game open and made his Heisman selection a mere formality. Dorsett wound up with an amazing 2,150 yards rushing to lead the nation in '76. Then the Pittsburgh team defeated Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and became the undefeated consensus National Champion. For his career, Dorsett rushed for 6,082 yards, then a college record. In addition, Dorsett scored 356 points in college, setting a record for that time, surpassing the total of Army's Glenn Davis by two points. Dorsett was elected to both the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In the NFL, Dorsett played for both the Dallas Cowboys and the Denver Broncos. He was a 4-time Pro Bowler and helped Dallas to win Super Bowl XII in when the Cowboys defeated the Denver Broncos 27-10. Dorsett was the game's leading rusher when he carried 15 times for 66 yards and a touchdown. The signed ticket stub measures 2x4.1". Dorsett has signed it in big and bold, flowing script with blue ink from a marker. This offering represents a key game in the career of one of the nation's best running backs.
