1977 Muhammad Ali Original Chicago Daily News Photograph (PSA Type I)
Extreme close-up photo of Muhammad Ali dates from preparation for his 1977 exhibition with heavyweight Scott LeDoux. The individual beads of sweat on the forehead of The Greatest frame his smiling visage as he brushes his cheek in trademark "I'm So Pretty" gesture. Black and white 8x10" photo also tells a deeper story, as this was the late-career overweight Ali, as indicated by the caption on back reading, "The 36-year old heavyweight champion, who says he weighs 235 pounds, 18 over his fighting weight, takes a breather after a workout." Further, the champ poetically describes his current state, "I'm overweight and out of shape, but still better than all heavyweights." Back also has Chicago Daily News label dated 11/28/77, with location being the Windy City Boxing Club, as well as date stamp of Nov 29, 1977. Comes from the extensive Muhammad Ali collection of Troy Kinunen. Encapsulated by PSA as Type I Authentic.
