1977 Reggie Jackson & Billy Martin Photo (PSA Type I)
Circa 1977 photo magnificently captures New York Yankees manager Billy Martin, arm around superstar slugger Reggie Jackson. A small tear to the bottom border and a couple of minor stains over Martin's shoulder do not at all detract from this 8x10" image, which has photographer stamp and various markings including writing reading, "Start of 1977 season" on back. Unironically, the back also has a typewritten caption reading "Togetherness" before identifying the subjects. Great photo which also benefits from some context. The '77-78 Yankees are still known as the "Bronx Zoo" era, in which colorful personalities with exceptional talent came together - sometimes uneasily - leading to a 1978 World Series Championship. Martin and Jackson were at the epicenter of the wonderful chaos, exhibiting "togetherness" of the type shown in this image, in between feisty bouts of competitive fire which resulted in the two nearly coming to blows on multiple occasions.
