1978 John Candelaria Pittsburgh Pirates Game Worn Jersey
Fresh off a brilliant 1977 season that saw him post a 20-5 record and National League-best 2.34 ERA, John Candelaria followed with a solid, if unspectacular, '78 season (12-11, 3.24) and wore this canary-yellow Pirates jersey that has the all-original "Pirates" across the front and "45" on the back. There is a "45 78" strip tag sewn on the front tail but the Wilson size tag in the collar is no longer present (stitch marks indicate it was once there). The jersey measures out to be a size 48, which is proper for the "Candy Man's" massive frame. The jersey shows lots of use with loose stitching and faded numerals and letters.
