1978 Wayne Gretzky’s First Pro Game Ticket

1978 Wayne Gretzky’s First Pro Game Ticket

A 17-year-old Wayne Gretzky made his professional debut during the 1978-79 season with the Indianapolis Racers of the World Hockey Association. Eight games into the schedule he would be traded to the Edmonton Oilers and the game would be forever changed. This ticket stub is from the Racers' first match-up of the regular season, played October 14, 1978, against the Winnipeg Jets on home ice at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis. Although torn on the bottom edge by the ticket taker, the stub is in excellent condition with vivid coloring and no creases.
