1978 Willie Randolph Game Worn World Series Game 2 Yankees Jersey (Photomatched)

1978 Willie Randolph Game Worn World Series Game 2 Yankees Jersey (Photomatched)

1978 was a magical year for the Yankees, as they repeated as World Series champions, storming back from 14-and-a-half games out to overtake the Boston Red Sox with a different manager at the end (Bob Lemon) than when they broke camp (Billy Martin). Steady second baseman Willie Randolph was a catalyst for those championship teams, and he wore this terrific, all original home pinstripe jersey during Game 2 of the 1978 World Series and possibly as late as 1979 due to evidence of the black armband on the left sleeve in honor of Thurman Munson. The signature interlocking "NY" adorns the front and Randolph's number "30" highlights the back. "Randolph 78 1" is stitched on a strip tag in the collar and there is a Wilson Size 40 tag on the front tail. The jersey shows fine use, and again, this is all original with no changes or alterations. A Brooklyn native, Randolph played the majority of his career in the Bronx - 13 of his 18 Major League seasons.
