1979-80 Salt Lake Golden Eagles Central Hockey League Championship Player Ring (Heinz LOA)
Presented is a 1979-80 player's Championship Ring that was presented to Salt Lake Golden Eagles goalie Rick Heinz when the Golden Eagles won the 1979-80 Central Hockey Hockey League Championship. The ring comes directly from goalie Rick Heinz. The Salt Lake Golden Eagles won the Central Hockey League Championship by defeating the Forth Worth Texans 4-3 in games in a seven game final series. The Salt Lake Golden Eagles were a minor league affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues. The face of the ring has a raised image of the team's Golden Eagle trademark. Imprinted around the face of the ring is "Salt Lake Golden Eagles 1980." One prong of the ring has a raised image of the Golden Eagle mascot, and the other prong has an image of the Adams Cup (the championship trophy) and in raised lettering is imprinted Championship 79-80 CHL Adams Cup." There is obvious damage to the face of the ring. The ring is a size 12 and weighs 26 grams. Heinz plated parts of five seasons in the NHL. He played in 49 games, 46 with the St. Louis Blues and 3 games with the Vancouver Canucks. He had a 14-17-5 won-lost-tied record, with a 4.09 GAA and an .857 save percentage. With the Salt Lake Golden Eagles in '79-'80, Heinz played in 39 games, with a record of 22-11-5, a GAA of 3.03 and an .885 save percentage. The Golden Eagles were a popular franchise, and the ring, once owned by a player who reached the NHL, makes a nice remembrance of a successful era in Salt Lake hockey. The ring comes with a Rick Heinz LOA.
