1979 Rocky Balboa vs Apollo Creed Statue by Giovanni Schoeman
Rare bronze-colored statue depicting the characters of Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed trading blows. The facsimile signatures of the respective actors, "Sylvester Stallone" and "Carl Weathers," are engraved along the top of the base. Signed by the artist, "Giovanni Schoeman 1979," on the side of the base. An engraving on another base side reads "Copyright United Artists Corporation 1979 All Rights Reserved." While we do not know for certain how many of these statues were produced, the number must be extremely low, as we have seen only one or two others over the years. One of the examples we have seen at auction was originally presented to a movie executive, so it's possible that these statues were specially commissioned as gifts for producers or crew members associated with the first two Rocky films. The Rocky movie franchise is one of the most successful in Hollywood history and the characters of Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed are now iconic in stature. The statue displays only minor wear, with the original green felt intact on the underside. Excellent to Mint condition. Base: 10.5x6.25 inches. Height: 12 inches.
