1980 Cartier Silver "Christmas Gift" Jewelry Box Gifted by John Lennon & Yoko Ono (Family LOA)

1980 Cartier Silver "Christmas Gift" Jewelry Box Gifted by John Lennon & Yoko Ono (Family LOA)

December of 1980 will forever be associated with the senseless killing of singer/songwriter John Lennon at the hands of Mark David Chapman. That very same month, this Cartier silver jewelry box was gifted to the family of John Lennon's personal doctor. It bears the bittersweet engraving: "Double Fantasy, Christmas 1980, NYC, John & Yoko" inside. That multi-platinum collaboration album with wife Yoko was released a month earlier, became a massive success, and captured the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. This understated yet high-class keepsake comes from the doctor's family in California, the patriarch of which was a practitioner of Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture for spiritual and physical cleansing and healing. His friendship with Lennon and Yoko started when Lennon began receiving treatments from him in the early 1970s. Keith Moon, drummer for The Who, also received treatments from this man. Measures 4" x 3.25" and comes with original bag and box, both labeled Cartier. There is a dent in the front, while the bottom is engraved: "Cartier Hand Made Sterling." Comes with a signed LOA by Barbara Hong, the daughter of Lennon's former doctor.
